As part of the England-Shanghai Mathematics Teacher Exchange Project 2016, Serena Grear and Eva Brown, two of the Mastery Mathematics Specialist teachers from the South West Maths Hub, travelled to Shanghai together with 70 other Mastery Specialist teachers across England to spend two weeks in primary schools in order to gain insight into the way mathematics lessons are designed and taught. This is an incredible opportunity for professionals from both countries to share expertise and learn from each other in order to consistently improve practice and raise the standard of mathematics teaching for the benefit our pupils.
Serena and Eva decided to share their daily experience with us so keep an eye on their blog.
We are very pleased to announce that the Federation has been selected to host visitors from Shanghai in China as part of a National Mathematics Teacher Exchange Programme. This will be led by Mrs Brown (Carlino) who will also be visiting China to learn about specific teaching strategies in mathematics.
This is an exciting opportunity for teachers to share their expertise and will have a very positive impact upon your children’s mathematical learning. We are very fortunate to have been selected as one of very few schools across the UK and look forward to embracing this project.

St Elphege’s and Regina Coeli will be hosting a ‘Maths Week’ which is taking place during the week beginning Monday 3rd October. This week will involve many exciting activities for the children including: maths trails; maths raps; maths through art and much more.
We are asking you to provide a plain, pale coloured t-shirt that the children will design a maths inspired creation to wear for a parade at the end of the week. We are asking that the children bring these t-shirts to school by Friday 30th September.
On Monday 4th July we had a glorious day of sunshine for the Year 1 - 6 Sports day. All the children took part in various sporting activities throughout the day. The infants had an Olympic inspired morning with each class representing a different country. While the Juniors represented our school teams: St Dunstan’s, St Bede, St Augustine and St Columba.
Well done to ST DUNSTAN’s who were the winning the team. Congratulations!
Well done to all the children that took part in the sports day and a massive thank you to all the parents that came to show their support!
