Pupil Premium Review: 2015/16

Review of data and impact on learning 2015-2016 (refer to tables A& B):

  • In KS1, a high percentage of pupils reached the new expected standard in English and Mathematics (Age Related Expectations). This reflects the success of St Elphege’s quality first teaching and its use of specialist teachers to support booster/intervention groups.
  • In KS2, in all subjects pupils in receipt of Pupil Premium Grant (PPG) performed better than all pupils nationally.
  • In view of the higher than average national attainment data across the Key Stages, pupils are behind their peers within the school however their attainment is significantly above all children’s attainment nationally.
  • Pupils working at greater depth performance were also significantly above average nationally in each subject except for writing which will be targeted specifically next academic year.
  • PPG grant was used to fund additional class teachers and specialist teachers to provide both in-class support as well as booster and intervention sessions.
  • All classes, across both schools, have had TAs in the morning and afternoon sessions to provide additional support for English and maths. Teaching assistants have also provided tailored invention to enable pupils to reach targets.
  • The infant school has employed a specialist literacy consultant to teach booster/intervention groups across Key Stage 1.
  • The PPG grant was also used to provide enrichment activities including support with payment for Y5/6 school journey, music tuition, after-school provision, educational visits and other school sports activities
  • Additional enrichment activities across both schools include payment of music tuition, authors’ visits and other sporting activities.
